February Newsletter

On Monday, our doors opened and we welcomed our first two guests at Greenwich Winter Night Shelter. We now have 4 guests who are settled in and referrals are picking up by the day.

We have been humbled and encouraged by the support, dedication and passion of everyone who has been involved in getting the project off the ground. It has been a real demonstration of the power of collaboration and community spirit and we’re excited to see the project grow and develop.

Without volunteers, our shelter simply wouldn’t be able to operate. A huge thank you to everyone who has applied, attended training and signed up to shifts.

We are still looking for volunteers to staff our evening, overnight and morning shifts as well as to cook evening meals. If you would like to sign up, please fill in this form. If you have signed up, but not yet booked onto training, you can see upcoming dates here.

Once you have completed the training you will be able to sign up for shifts, slots can be booked on our volunteer rota (these will only be visible if you have completed training).

Renovation support

We have received a lot of support with building works and planning from local organisations. A particular thank you to Royal Borough of Greenwich, T-Brown, BPTW, Effectable and Martin Arnold who have been with us along the way.

Upcoming plans

We are looking forward to opening our drop-in day centre for homeless people in Greenwich over the next couple of months. This will be a space for people to recharge, receive specialist support and build connections. We will be in touch with more details and how you can get involved soon!

All best wishes,

The GWNS Team
