Winter Night Shelter Review

Winter Night Shelter Review

Our first Winter Night Shelter season at the new venue drew to a close at the end of April this year and was a great success. In 3 months, we provided overnight accommodation for 15 people and, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Case Manager, Noreen, we were able to move 12 people into sustainable, good quality and long term (6 months+) accommodation and 1 person into temporary accommodation.

We noticed the huge difference in the quality of service we are able to provide from a venue with single room accommodation. Our biggest piece of feedback from guests was how much they appreciated having their own room where they could sleep uninterrupted and leaving belongings knowing they would be safe.

The Winter Night Shelter simply wouldn’t have been possible without the monumental effort of our volunteers. Led by our Volunteer Manager, Georgia, 180 volunteers came together to show compassion and commitment to supporting our guests.

In the last month of the night shelter, we piloted our Day Centre with guests to listen to what services, activities and atmosphere they would like to see develop over the next few months. The year-round Day Centre is now fully up and running as an open drop-in for anyone who’s homeless or experiencing homelessness. The day centre runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9-1pm.

Below is a visual summary of our Winter Night Shelter season and we’re looking forward to opening it again in October 2022!
