Night Shelter
The night shelter has been open for just over 3 months and we are really starting to see the positive impact that having a static shelter has on the wellbeing of our guests. Being based in one location means guests can leave their belongings during the day, can stay on-site to meet with our Caseworker and feel more of a sense of ownership over the space for the duration of their stay.
We simply wouldn’t be able to offer this service without the ongoing support and dedication of our volunteers. They continue to go above and beyond to create a warm, welcoming and hospitable environment for everyone who walks through the door, 7 days a week.
Our night shelter will be drawing to a close at the end of April for the summer when we will be developing and growing our Day Centre which will be a year-round service.
Day Centre
For the past two weeks, our Day Centre has been open on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays for our current and previous guests. It’s been great to see guests making use of the building during the day and we will soon be opening the Day Centre up as an open drop-in to anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness in the borough.
We have a number of activities already on offer including Arts and Crafts, Employment Coaching and Cooking Classes and will be continuing to develop services and support. Next Monday will also see the launch of our Gardening Club, first up on the agenda: compost and allotments!
